[ I thought I was good at hiding things. But this place is ridiculous, finding somehow some way to coax things out of him against his will. People have seen through him deeper than he'd like... In the end, they're here and he starts rubbing his eyes.
The thoughts are stifled, suffocated, because he doesn't want anything dark to black out everything around him, but there's a small gleam. A simple whisper that he's glad Kaveh is here, happy that people checked up on him.
In the grand scheme of things, it may not do anything, but it matters to him. ]
I have to be ready for tomorrow.
[ Hungry... But all he wants to do is sob for a bit. ]
Vash is good at hiding, he thinks. Better than Kaveh, for sure. He remembers all those weeks ago--the realization that someone else felt the same way he did. It wasn't something he would've wished on another person... but there was no denying that little curl of relief, knowing that at least one person here truly understood him.
But it would be impossible for him to think Vash would be okay today. Even without this week's developments, it was obvious how close they were. Kaveh lost Nahida less than a week ago; that pain was indescribable, and Kaveh barely knew Nahida before coming here. He can't even begin to imagine what it's like for the people who've lost loved ones they were so deeply attached to.
Even now, Kaveh's hesitant to assume other people's feelings. He doesn't dare to believe that Vash might feel comfortable letting go of his defenses just because Kaveh is here. Kaveh doesn't want to force him through the door; he just wants Vash to know that it's open.
He lifts a hand rest on the back of Vash's head, gentle.]
Just tell me what you need, tomorrow. I'll be there.
[He wants answers--but a part of him is afraid that they won't like the ones they get. So, even more than that... he wants Vash and Livio to know that they don't have to deal with this alone.
They've been so kind to him. So steady and caring in his worst moments. He'll give them space if they seem to need it but... it's the absolute least he can do to return the favor.
I'll bring you something soon. He remembers how much comfort Matsui found here; Vash should be allowed to stay too, if he wants to.]
