[This is truly such an odd experience... is this what it's like to live Tighnari's life...]
Okay, good. [Because otherwise he was going to offer to do it which is hilarious considering Vash is taller than him. But, also--] Not that I'm all that familiar with either, but your priests sound very different from the ones in Teyvat...
[He will do it if you ask him to, especially because he thinks Wolfwood would probably let him get away with it even though he has no proof of this.]
Devoted to their archons, from what I understand. They have a church in Mondstadt, for instance, and I've heard the deaconess is very sweet--very devoted to Barbatos. There's an island in Inazuma that has a priestess, as well, but I think she's in charge of just about everything over there. It's been a long time since I've visited, and I was only there to study the architecture, so I couldn't really tell you too many details about their customs.
... I don't think that's too different for people in No Man's Land, but obviously we don't get to interact or know God. It's more of a blind faith kind of thing. Very hands off.
[ He looks back out to the sighs, musing. ]
Still, in the hundred and fifty years of living in an inhabitable planet without succor, people still pray for deliverance.
He told me about it, a little. [When they had their very civil nonviolent conversation.] It sounds closest to how things are in Mondstadt, but even then, there's definitive proof that he led them once. And then you have nations like Inazuma, which are led directly by their Archon--or Sumeru, even though it's a little different.
[Nahida was locked up for so long...]
But even then, it's not like every prayer is answered. Most of them aren't. [His never have been, after all.] So I understand a little, even though it's not quite the same.
Something like that. [He turns his gaze outward, toward the water.] To be honest, I stopped praying a long time ago. So I'm probably not the best person to ask.
It's alright, it's not a secret. [Just, like, depressing.] My father died about twenty years ago, in the desert. As a child, I thought that if anyone could fix things, it would be a god... or maybe it would be better to say I'd wanted to believe that. But of course that was impossible.
[And, well. Other things. But he won't get into all of that.]
A few other things happened over the years, and... well, I just learned to put my faith in other people instead. But it's not out of any lack of respect for Nahida--it's just that gods work in different ways than we do, I think. When you're drowning, you learn to reach toward an outstretched hand, not to the sky.
[Aww, Vash. Kaveh's gaze turns sympathetic--he reaches out to rest a gentle hand on Vash's arm.]
I agree. I've been very fortunate. [Which is proof enough, for him, that there really will always be people who will support each other, no matter what.] I'm hardly selfless, but I don't think you have to be to know that mutual assistance is the purpose of society.
[He smiles, then, wry.]
Someone has to balance out people like him and Alhaitham. But from the way he spoke, I don't think his views are as removed from ours as they might seem.
[Damb they really are the same person. I can't believe Vash is Kaveh's sibling from his mom's second marriage.
Kaveh huffs, though.]
That man's too smart for his own good. All those brains, and what does he use them for? The pursuit of truth and knowledge, with no application to the people around him. He's got no respect for anybody, not even his seniors.
[HIS PROFILE SAYS 150 unless you mean him respecting Kaveh which I don't know about but he shouldn't]
I know! It's ridiculous. You know, one time I found out that he and a mutual friend of ours had run into some trouble--and when I asked him if he was okay, you know what he said? [Mimicking Alhaitham's DUMB VOICE] "I'm doing quite well. much better than that painting you're trying to hang on the wall." As if he knows anything about aesthetics in the first place!

What are they like in Teyvat?

... It's about hope, right?
[ Believing in a god you don't know exists, or don't know if they're listening to you, sending them prayer anyway. ]

[ Because Nahida is like right there. ]

I don't think so. It wasn't anything personal against her. Some things are just... impossible.

[ ... ]
You don't need to tell me if you don't want to. I get that it's kind of personal.

[ It is depressing times on this canoe-adjacent vehicle. ]
It seems like gods have their limits, but there are a lot of kind people who can help us get back on our feet.
[ Vash truly believes the universe is full of them, welcoming the hurt and the lost with warmth and comfort. ]
I can see why Wolfwood said we have similar views.

Kaveh also looks offended for like 5 seconds before he realizes that Vash is probably referencing something Wolfwood said to him.]
Hmph. He certainly has no problem harassing me on the message boards around Sumeru. The message boards! Who picks a fight like that?!
no subject
Woah, talk about petty? At least Wolfwood would just spit in my face.
[ He means metaphorically. ]
